Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Programme

The MBSR Programme is an intensive, 8-week training course taught by Denise Washkansky who is a certified mindfulness trainer.  Weekly classes include a variety of practices, life skill presentations and discussions. Home practices are provided each week to help integrate the teachings into daily life. 

Anyone who practices mindfulness will benefit. Some gain relief from stress or burnout, others deal better with illness, chronic pain, anxiety or depression. And others simply learn to be more present and begin to live life with more awareness. Presence and Awareness are integral ingredients in creating a richer, more peaceful inner experience of the world. 

The course is well-structured and uses an intelligent, tried-and-tested methodology.  It is specifically designed as an introduction to mindfulness but is also a good refresher course for those who have engaged with mindfulness in the past and would like to reconnect and re-energise their daily practice. 

The programme was developed in 1979 by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts and is now being run in over 600 clinics worldwide. Research has clearly demonstrated the effectiveness of the MBSR programme in heightening awareness and reducing stress.
